Cute Idea about World peace cookies. Maybe I’ll try it.

I thought I’d share a cute idea we did the other night for Visiting Teaching.
We had a “very fond of you” get together.
My partner and I invited over the 3 ladies we visit teach to. We wanted to make a treat for them for Valentine’s day,

But thought it would be more fun to get them together and do chocolate fondue.

It was lots of fun to get together with people that we see each month, but don’t know each other very well.

My only thought was that maybe next time I will invite the ladies who visit teach me and my partner could do the same. Sort of as a thankyou for being there for us. So instead of just 5 of us, it could be more.

Or you could do it however. You wouldn’t have to do this just at Valentine’s day, either. Chocolate fondue is good anytime. J

Oaky, that’s all. Stick that in your cute blog and share it.

Love ya. Kinie

World Peace

I have been reading alot of blogs, mostly because I am bored. They keep talking about World Peace Cookies. I have an idea and a challenge.
Make a batch of cookies. I dont care what kind just a batch of cookies. Use Pillsbury if you want (Albertsons has them on sale) Make the cookies and then take them to someone in your neighborhood on a plate that you dont care if you get back or not. NOT A PAPER ONE. Write a note of that says. These cookies are to spread World Peace and I start with you. Please carry on the act of goodness.

Nothing else needs to be said. Then wait and see if you become the recipant of a plate of cookies. If not you have done your part to spread World Peace.

I woul hope all your that see this note will comment on your reciepe and share what happens as you share your cookies.

Pay it Forward

I have seen this on a few other blogs and I have decided to play along. I'm excited lets all get excited and start Paying it Forward!!

1. Be one of the first THREE bloggers to leave a comment on this post, which then entitles you to a handmade item from me (yeah for handmade!).

2. Winners must post this challenge on their own blog, meaning that you will pay it forward, creating a handmade gift -anything!- for the first THREE bloggers who leave a comment on YOUR post about this giveaway!

3. The gift that you send to your 3 friends can be from any price range and you have 365 days to make/ship your item. This means you should be willing to maintain your blog at least until you receive your gift and have shipped your gifts. And, remember it’s the spirit and the thought that count!

4. When you receive your gift, blog about it! If you are not one of the first three to comment on this post, you can still play along. Go ahead and start your own Pay It Forward chain, and encourage your blogging friends to do the same! It's all about paying it forward.

Valentine Challenge

Ok, Sunday is 7 days till that big day of saying "I love you" to all that we love.
So heres a challenge with chocolates to all that leave a comment.
Who will you tell? and why do you love them.

I'll start. I will tell Cody Hammer how much I love him, because he comes to grandpa's and watches any motor sport that happens to be on. Last week it was Minature Motorcycles with grown men. He walked through the room and noticed it on the tv and dropped right in his tracks and watched the rest of the show. Thank you Cody and that is why I love you.

Week Menu with new reciepes

Ok middle of the week and here we are finally, But I found some really good recipe's for the next three days. Thursday is one we have already used but it is worth repeating.

Wednesday

Sweet and Sour Meatballs
These meatballs are terrific appetizers. They work well for parties or for a dish to take. My family enjoys them at home as a special holiday treat!

Ingredients:

2 pounds ground beef or chuck
2 eggs
3/4 cups seasoned bread crumbs
1 onion, chopped, sauteed
salt and pepper to taste

Ingredients for Sauce:

1 bottle chile sauce
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 sm can of apple juice – 6oz.?

Procedure:

Chop and lightly saute the onion in a small amount of oil or butter. Plan to use the same pan for the meatballs. A large non-stick fry pan or covered skillet works well.

Combine chopped beef with bread crumbs, sauteed onion, and salt and pepper. Mix well. Form into small meatballs according to your preference. Brown the meatballs in the skillet (use oil if needed to prevent sticking). Pour off any fat.

Combine all sauce ingredients. Heat the sauce, add the meatballs, and simmer covered for 1/2 hour. I use a large, covered, non-stick skillet and use the same pan for the entire procedure.

You could serve these over Rice, or even over a Baked Potato.
Serve and enjoy!!

Thursday
Crispy Onion Dijon Chicken

1 can French-fried onions, crushed
4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

Coat chicken with mustard and then French fried onions. Put chicken on
cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees F.

Friday

Turkey Bacon Avocado Wrap

4 slices bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
2 lb turkey breast tenderloins, cut crosswise into 1-inch slices
3/4 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons Old El Paso® taco seasoning mix (from 1-oz package)
1 medium ripe avocado, pitted, peeled and mashed
2 cups shredded lettuce
1/2 cup drained roasted red or yellow bell peppers (from 7-oz jar), large pieces cut up
8 Old El Paso® flour tortillas (6 or 8 inch), heated

1.In 12-inch nonstick skillet, cook bacon over medium heat 4 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until almost crisp. Add turkey slices to skillet; cook 4 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until turkey is brown on all sides.
2.Spray 3- to 4-quart slow cooker with cooking spray. Place turkey mixture in cooker. Top with barbecue sauce and taco seasoning mix; stir to mix well.
3.Cover; cook on Low heat setting 5 to 6 hours.
4.Remove turkey from cooker; place on cutting board. Use 2 forks to break up turkey; return turkey to cooker. Layer avocado, lettuce, turkey mixture and bell peppers on tortillas; roll up.
High Altitude (3500-6500 ft): No change.

How-To
To warm tortillas, wrap them in foil and heat in the oven at 325°F for about 7 minutes. Or place them on a microwavable plate, cover with microwavable waxed paper and microwave on High 45 to 60 seconds.
Success
Tender, low-fat meats, like the turkey tenderloins in this recipe, will get dry and tough if overcooked, so follow the cooking times carefully.

Note: you could use a Pork roast or tenderloin for this.

Sweetie Contest

Where did last week go? We missed it completely and we are sorry for that.
First the winner of January Peek a boo is (drum roll please) GINA LEE. We had 6 visitors, I put all the names in a box and had my sweetie husband draw out a name. You are the winner and if you will call me or Casie we will get your cookbook to you. Congradulations.

Now we will start a Sweetheart contest. Who ever sends us a post with a Valentine treat- for your sweetie-mom or kids even what you do for teachers. I will pick my favorite, and send a special book called "Things to Do" . I will try and post a pic for you but who knows how that will work.

Good Luck to all.
